Thailand busts Chinese gang that live-streamed porn to subscribers around the clock
- Chinese gang was running the pornography ring out of a flat in the eastern city of Pattaya, and sold content to customers globally via social media
- About 30 performers worked in shifts of six hours each churning out live heterosexual and gay sex shows which were also recorded for sale later
Thai police have busted an online pornography ring run by a Chinese gang from a condominium in the eastern city of Pattaya.
Six people, including a cameraman, the participants in the shows, a Chinese national and an interpreter, were also arrested during a raid on the flat where the gang live-streamed non-stop sex orgies.
Police said the subscription-based streams were sold to customers globally via social media. Officers seized sex toys, condoms, filming equipment and mobile phones from the suspects.
A commander of the immigration police division said the gang has been on investigators’ radar for some time, the Bangkok Post reported.
Police said the suspects were recruited by the Chinese operators who paid them 1,500 baht (US$43) per video, adding the actors made about five clips a day.
About 30 performers worked in shifts of six hours each churning out live heterosexual and gay sex shows which were also recorded for sale later.
Police added the suspects were charged with offences under the Computer Crime Act, which has a five-year maximum jail penalty. They also launched a manhunt for the owners of the business who were believed to be based in northern Thailand’s Chiang Rai.
