Hong Kong celebrates Mid-Autumn Festival as colourful lanterns light up Victoria Park

Colourful lanterns are lighting up Hong Kong’s Victoria Park to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival. The displays, which include a six-metre (20ft) high merry-go-round lantern and animal installations, will illuminate nightly from 6.30-11pm until September 22, 2021. Celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth month in the lunar calendar, the Mid-Autumn Festival traditionally was a time to mark the autumn harvest, and today remains an important day for reunions with family and friends.
