Sichuan earthquake, 10 years on

Ten years on, Sichuan remembers the 2008 earthquake

A powerful magnitude 8 quake struck and devastated China’s Sichuan province on May 12, 2008. Yingxiu was the most seriously damaged major town in the quake zone, with an official death toll of 6,566.

Ten years on, the government has preserved the ruins of Xuankou Middle School and built a memorial museum nearby. We visited the town on a government tour.
