Thailand’s Pita Limjaroenrat ‘not giving up’ on becoming PM after parliament vote falls short

The leader of Thailand’s election-winning Move Forward Party, Pita Limjaroenrat, has failed in his first bid to secure the 376 votes in parliament he needs to become prime minister. Conservative, pro-establishment lawmakers blocked his bid for office on July 13, 2023. Pita said he was “not giving up” after he only managed to gather 324 endorsements, 52 short of the magic number.
