Coleman Wong has another junior grand slam title within his sights.
The 17-year-old surging tennis rookie stormed into the finals of the Australian Open junior boys’ doubles on Thursday alongside Bruno Kuzuhara, with a convincing straight sets win over third-seeded duo Gabriel Debru and Kilian Feldbausch.
It was a swift and clinical win for Wong and Kuzuhara, who needed just 65 minutes to book their spot in the final.
“It’s amazing and an honour to represent Hong Kong in the Australian Open finals,” Wong told the Post. “We were just playing our game and it turned out pretty fast, I was very happy with our performance.”
Wong, who made history for the city after he became the first player to win a boys’ doubles grand slam title at the US Open last year, now has the opportunity to double down and take the city’s first Australian Open title.
