Spending the last year as full-time athletes, guided by rugby legend Anna Richards and with much-needed game time, their confidence has soared - and World Rugby Women's Sevens Series newbies China are set to feel the force of their conviction.

"We're going to really try to give China a run for their money," said top try-scorer Natasha Olson-Thorne. "Having the time to practise those skills, as a job, has made us so much better."

Before they meet their mainland cousins on Thursday afternoon, the team face an early game against Singapore before a clash with long-time rivals Kazakhstan.

"We're working together better and are more dedicated. The team now see the whole picture," added captain Royce Chan Leong-sze, who heads into her 10th tournament this year.

Amateurs Singapore have proven easy pickings in the past but the pressure is on for a high-scoring win. "If it comes down to points, we need to be one of the two best losers," said Richards.
