The 2025 Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens continues on Saturday March 29 at the new Kai Tak Stadium.
As fans adjust to the tournament’s move across the harbour to Kowloon, the Post takes you through all you need to know.
Hong Kong Sevens tickets
As of Friday evening, three-day passes remained available from the event’s official ticketing platform for HK$1,950 (US$250) per adult or HK$950 per child (ages 3-12) plus fees.
All corporate hospitality suites and corporate boxes have been sold.


How to get to Kai Tak Stadium
Catch the MTR to Kai Tak station or Sung Wong Toi station on the Tuen Ma line, and follow the signs on the short walk to Kai Tak Stadium. The Tuen Ma line will have increased services during the event.
Bus firms will run special routes to help fans return home.
What can I take to Kai Tak Stadium?
Spectators should be aware that certain items are prohibited.
No outside food and beverages may be taken in, except baby food and medication. Also banned are plastic, glass and metal containers, cans and bottles (except for baby food or medication).
Umbrellas and selfie sticks longer than 35cm (13.7 inches) are banned, as are noisemaking devices such as air horns and whistles.
Bags larger than 35cm x 20cm x 30cm (13.8in x 7.9in x 11.8in, too large to fit under your seat) are not permitted.

Will Kai Tak Stadium roof be open?
Tang King-shing, Kai Tak Sports Park’s director of strategic planning, has said that the stadium’s retractable roof was closed on Friday to support performances inside the venue, but would be open on Saturday and Sunday.
Hong Kong Sevens schedule
Gates open at 7am on Saturday, which sees the mini rugby starting even earlier than Friday’s, with matches between 7.25am and 9.10am. Then it’s the adults from 9.30am until 8.30pm.
The women’s Australia v Japan clash is a match for early birds to look forward to, at 9.53am, given the Australians’ impressive start on Friday. Defending champions New Zealand are back in action at 12.57pm, against Brazil.

In the men’s section, Argentina v Fiji at 12.11pm looks worth catching, as does a meeting of the sport’s 15-a-side giants as South Africa take on New Zealand at 1.43pm.
That’s followed by two doses of Hong Kong, with the women playing Thailand at 2.06pm and the men facing Japan at 3.06pm. Then come the knockout rounds.
Sevens entertainment on Saturday
The Sevens’ traditional mini and youth rugby march-past will take place on Saturday at 2.26pm. Then Italian singer Gala, famed for the song “Freed from Desire”, will perform.
DJ Pete Tong will also perform, preceded by a laser show at 6.36pm.
A group of cheerleaders from South Korean baseball team Kia Tigers will perform in between matches.
Sevens bar closing times
The fan village next to the stadium, offering entertainment and refreshments, will open from the start of play and close at 10.30pm on Saturday.
Inside the stadium, “The Champion”, one of the longest bars in Asia, will close at 11pm on Saturday.
