It feels as though we have been talking about the 50th anniversary of the Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens for months, which, in fairness, some people have.
Planning for the week has been serious business, both for organisers and those with three days of partying and rugby in mind.
And as usual, there is as much action off the pitch as on it, with K-pop artists, a Eurodance group and DJs all performing at Kai Tak Stadium.
But making the most of what to see and do requires almost as much groundwork as putting on the event. Here then, is your essential guide to what’s on when this weekend for the opening leg of the HSBC SVNS World Championship.

The Rugby
