Racing Incident Report
Race Ten : (28) - YIU TUNG HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1400Meters
Horse No 1 SWEET ENCOUNTER (G426) H Bowman Apprentice P N Wong (MASSIVE ACTION) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 1250 Metres she allowed her mount to shift in when not clear of SOLEIL FIGHTER, resulting in SOLEIL FIGHTER being taken in onto PRAY FOR MIR, causing PRAY FOR MIR to be taken in across the running of SWEET ENCOUNTER which was checked.
The Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered her excellent race riding record.
After considering submissions in relation to penalty and Apprentice Wong's inexperience in riding in Hong Kong, she was issued with a severe reprimand.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 2 SUNLIGHT POWER (H244) C L Chau Raced wide and without cover from the 900 Metres.
Near the 170 Metres jumped a marking on the track.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 STAR MAC (J053) L Ferraris Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 4 BEAUTY GLORY (E459) Z Purton Bumped on the hindquarters at the start.
Horse No 5 FORTUNATE SON (J446) B Avdulla Jumped awkwardly, made contact with BEAUTY GLORY and then from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 8 MASSIVE ACTION (E445) P N Wong Near the 200 Metres struck the heels of SWEET ENCOUNTER and blundered when SWEET ENCOUNTER, which was laying in, was steadied away from FORTUNATE SON (B Avdulla) which shifted out slightly.
B Avdulla was advised to exercise more care.
In assessing the incident, the Stewards also established that MASSIVE ACTION was laying in which prevented Apprentice P N Wong from being able to shift out to avoid SWEET ENCOUNTER.
Apprentice Wong pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference approaching the 1250 Metres (see SWEET ENCOUNTER).
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 9 PRAY FOR MIR (J245) M Chadwick Jumped only fairly.
Approaching the 300 Metres raced in restricted room between LO PAN SPIRIT and GREENWICH which shifted in slightly.
Horse No 10 THE HEIR (H459) C Y Ho Held up for clear running between the 400 Metres and the 250 Metres.
Horse No 12 MIGHTY STEED (J384) M L Yeung Near the 150 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when improving into a narrow run between BEAUTY GLORY and LO PAN SPIRIT.
Horse No 14 SUPER LOVE DRAGON (J038) K Teetan Noted to have blood in its mouth after the race.
GENERAL:
1.
After the running of Race 1, the track classification for the turf course was officially changed from "Good" to "Good to Firm" This change in the opinion of the Stewards should be recorded as being retrospective.
As a consequence of this, the official results will show Race 1 being run on a track rated "Good to Firm" SUMMARY:

Favourite Sunlight Power showed a good turn of foot with two wider out to win going away 150m out after travelling five back and three wide without cover the entire trip. Fortunate Son came from last at the 1,000m to easily take second after switching out for a clear run 200m out. He was able to build on a pleasing fifth on his local debut at the Valley in July. Mighty Steed wove a run late near the inside to just take third after settling second last from gate 14. It was a much-improved effort at his second local run. Punted late Lo Pan Spirit gradually faded after tracking the leader Beauty Glory from gate 11. It was another honest effort. Super Love Dragon closed off late near the outside to just miss the frame after travelling with cover on the winner's back. He will be hard to beat if he gets a downgrade into Class Four. The Heir ran on well when finally gaining a clear path near the 200m following a patient ride four from the rear.
