Racing Incident Report
Race Ten : (811) - THE PHILIP CHEN TROPHY (HANDICAP) - Class 3 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 IMA SINGLE MAN (D476) Y L Chung Despite being ridden along in the early stages failed to show sufficient pace to hold a more forward position.
After the race, Y L Chung stated that his mount failed to travel at any stage of the event and raced in a disappointing manner.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 2 EIGHTY LIGHT YEARS (H170) L Ferraris Bumped at the start.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 3 FULL CREDIT (J185) L Hewitson Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 GREAT STATE (J124) K De Melo When questioned regarding his riding in the Home Straight, K De Melo stated that after following POLARIS he shifted to that runner's outside to commence to improve into the event.
He said when a run did not fully develop between POLARIS and LO PAN SPIRIT, he then contemplated shifting to the outside of LO PAN SPIRIT near the 400 Metres to secure clear running.
He said when MODULECONSTRUCTION was positioned to his outside and there was no run available, he then commenced to look to improve to the inside of LO PAN SPIRIT.
He added approaching the 300 Metres when he attempted to obtain that run, STAR CLUB improved to his inside at which point he received a call from the rider of STAR CLUB, Jockey Z Purton.
He said for this reason he was unable to fully commit to the run between LO PAN SPIRIT and POLARIS which resulted in GREAT STATE being held up behind LO PAN SPIRIT between the 300 Metres and the 200 Metres before GREAT STAGE finished the race off only fairly.
The Stewards advised Jockey De Melo that in the circumstances he should have ridden his mount in a more decisive manner approaching the 300 Metres to ensure that he fully established a run between LO PAN SPIRIT and POLARIS sooner.
Horse No 5 LO PAN SPIRIT (J233) H Bentley Bumped on the hindquarters on jumping and became unbalanced.
Horse No 7 TORONADO PHANTOM (E300) H Bowman Shifted in at the start and was bumped.
From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 8 POLARIS (J404) M Chadwick Bumped on jumping and became unbalanced.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 9 STAR CLUB (H239) Z Purton Near the 200 Metres became held up for clear running behind POLARIS and as a result did not obtain clear running until after the 100 Metres where it shifted to the outside of that runner.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 11 VICTOR THE RAPID (J393) A Atzeni Shortly after the start was crowded between EIGHTY LIGHT YEARS and MODULECONSTRUCTION which shifted out slightly.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 12 YEAH BUDDY (J430) M L Yeung On jumping was checked when crowded between POLARIS which shifted out slightly and LO PAN SPIRIT which shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider.

4 July 2024 Happy Valley Racemeeting - Race 2 (794) BABY CRYSTAL - Y L Chung was interviewed today in relation to his riding of BABY CRYSTAL.
He said as BABY CRYSTAL hung out throughout the event, he shifted his weight to the right side of his mount in an endeavour to encourage it to move closer to the rail.
He said as a result his saddle shifted slightly to the right, however, such occurrence did not place him at any disadvantage throughout the running of the event.

Racing Laboratory tests of GO GO GO, ARTHUR'S KINGDOM, FASTPASS, HAYDAY, GIMME FIVE, COMET SPLENDIDO, STORM LEGEND, KYRUS UNICORN, LEAN MASTER, ONE FOR ALL, I CAN, SETANTA, CAN'T GO WONG, PRIME MORTAR, PACKING HERMOD, COPARTNER PRANCE, HARMONY N BLESSED, HELENE WARRIOR, ROMANTIC LAOS, CHAIN OF GOLD, KA YING CHEER and KYRUS DRAGON (26.6.24) proved negative.

Well-backed Full Credit was too good after dictating the run from gate three for a third win and two on the bounce from six starts. He has a bright future. Polaris stayed on nicely for second after a box-seat run. He was able to build on a positive sixth on his local debut last month. Captain Win ran on well to finish a close third after settling one off with cover from behind midfield. It was another good effort despite a return to Class Three after a win. Favourite Star Club was held up for a run until the last 100m following a rail run from behind midfield. He had a legitimate excuse. Moduleconstruction ran on steadily to dead-heat for fourth after a one-off run from better than midfield. He doesn't know how to run a bad race. Early favourite Lo Pan Spirit weakened after tracking the speed. He wasn't good enough following a rise in class after winning two of three starts, but it's still early days. Toronado Phantom came from last to finish next best. Great State was held up for the majority of the straight after a midfield run.
