Recap by phillip woo

Big Red just scrambled in from the fast-finishing I Can after rolling to the lead near the 100m marker. He was able to build on a badly held up sixth last start when trying the Valley 1,650m for the first time. I Can showed a good turn of foot down the outside to make it close on the wire after a patient ride three from the rear. It was a solid effort carrying top weight after opening his win account last start. Super Baby kept on reasonably well for third after getting pestered for the lead to his outside by Foremost Teddy. He is hard to get right. Early favourite Running Boy whacked on at one pace after a box-seat run. He has improved in his past two starts. Strongest Boy ran on without threatening after settling on the rail in midfield. He performed better after failing to come close in two prior starts. Post-time favourite Snowalot just plodded after settling one off the rail in midfield. He appears to be on or near his mark following a win. Foremost Teddy was stopping badly near the 400m after pressing the pace without cover from gate seven.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two : (667) - CIRON HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters

Horse No 1 I CAN (H381) A Atzeni After the race, A Atzeni reported that his mount jumped only fairly and as a result was slightly further back than he had anticipated.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 SNOWALOT (E397) K Teetan After the race, K Teetan reported that his mount travelled satisfactorily throughout the event, but failed to respond in the Home Straight and, in his opinion, may appreciate a surface with more give.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 3 TRADITION (J111) M F Poon For a short distance near the 350 Metres was unable to improve when positioned behind FOREMOST TEDDY which was giving ground quickly, Horse No 4 BIG RED (H299) E C W Wong Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 STRONGEST BOY (H027) Z Purton Briefly held up on the Home Turn.

For some distance approaching the 250 Metres lay in behind BIG RED and proved somewhat difficult to shift to that runner's outside.

Horse No 7 FORTUNE COOKIES (J032) B Thompson Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.

Horse No 8 FOREMOST TEDDY (J058) K De Melo After the race, K De Melo reported that his mount travelled well outside the lead, but from the 600 Metres came under pressure and when he felt there was something amiss with the horse, he eased it down in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm.

Before being allowed to race again, FOREMOST TEDDY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 9 RUNNING BOY (J041) C Y Ho Had its right front plate refitted at the holding stalls, examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.

Horse No 10 FRUITY WARRIOR (J035) L Hewitson From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

After the race, L Hewitson stated that after settling back in the field, when the pace increased from the 500 Metres, FRUITY WARRIOR was unable to improve from that point and did not run on in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, FRUITY WARRIOR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
