Horse No 1 NORTHERN BEAST (H233) H Bowman Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 MASTER OF LUCK (G276) B Avdulla A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 3 AMAZING BOY (D513) M Chadwick From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 4 DIAMOND DIAMOND (H189) K Teetan From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages and got its head up.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 5 FORTUNE PRESIDENT (G054) L Hewitson Slow to begin.
For some distance near the 1500 Metres raced tight to the inside of MASTER OF LUCK when that runner was taken in by HANG'S CHOICE.
Horse No 6 MEDIC ELITE (G129) Y L Chung Shifted in on jumping and was bumped.
Horse No 7 YEABOI (G372) L Ferraris After the race, L Ferraris advised that with the expected lack of early pace in the event he was instructed to take up a forward position from his wide barrier.
He said YEABOI travelled satisfactorily throughout the early and middle stages and when the pace of the event increased near the 600 Metres YEABOI came under pressure and failed to respond to his riding from that point.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 8 BIG TWO (E310) H Bentley Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 10 SMART BEAUTY (G477) Z Purton M F Poon (FOXHUNTER WAY) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 200 Metres he allowed his mount to shift out, resulting in SMART BEAUTY being crowded for room between FOXHUNTER WAY and NORTHERN BEAST and having to be checked.
M F Poon was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Wednesday, 1 May 2024 at Happy Valley.
In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his very good race riding record.
Horse No 11 FOXHUNTER WAY (E296) M F Poon Bumped at the start.
M F Poon pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference near the 200 Metres (see SMART BEAUTY).

Favourite Northern Beast reeled in Big Two in the closing stages after a prominent run one off the fence for a first win at his 12th start. The writing had been on the wall following placings in his past two starts over the Valley 1,650m. Big Two did everything right but could not get the win after surging to the lead 250m out. He's racing well without winning. Medic Elite ran on nicely but just missed second after settling one off the rail in midfield. It was another honest performance. Punted late, Smart Beauty settled on the rail and should have finished closer after getting impeded trying to go through a gap 200m out. Following a handy run along the inside Foxhunter Way bumped sharply with Smart Beauty when trying to switch out for a run at the 200m and inevitably came up one-paced. Master Of Luck got going late without threatening after biding his time in fourth last from a tricky gate. He was carrying more weight following a last-start win and didn't get the race run to suit. Happy Hunk faded to finish next best after getting an easy time in front.
