Racing Incident Report
Race Nine: (434) - TVB WAI YIN ASSOCIATION SPECIAL HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters
EIGHT TRIGRAMS was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (fever).
Before being allowed to race again, EIGHT TRIGRAMS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
SUPREME LUCKY, which was fractious in the barriers, lifted its front feet as the start was effected, resulting in SUPREME LUCKY being slow to begin.
Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that SUPREME LUCKY had not been denied a fair start, Trainer C S Shum and Jockey M F Poon were advised that under the provisions of Rule 12(19) which provides that no horse which is declared first, second, third or fourth place in a race shall be declared a non-runner, it was not open to them to make an application for the horse to be declared a non-runner and on that basis weighed-in was declared on the numbers semaphored by the Judge.
Before being allowed to race again, SUPREME LUCKY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial.
TAJ DRAGON shifted out at the start and bumped SETANTA.
WINGS OF WAR was brushed by WONDER KIT which shifted in at the start.
DECISIVE TWELVE was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
DECISIVE TWELVE was held up rounding the Home Turn when positioned behind YOUTHFUL DEAL which raced tight to the outside of PULSAR STRIDER.
CALIFORNIA RAD was briefly held up near the 400 Metres.
PULSAR STRIDER and DIAMOND FLARE raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Near the 100 Metres, TAJ DRAGON was steadied when briefly crowded by SETANTA which shifted in and away from CALIFORNIA RAD.
After the race, K Teetan (WINGS OF WAR) was of the view that the horse would benefit from today's first run in Hong Kong.
A veterinary inspection of WINGS OF WAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

SUPREME LUCKY, GOKO WIN and MAGNIAC were sent for sampling.

Goko Win showed a good turn of foot after switching off heels for a clear run 300m out to win going away 30m out following a patient ride second last from a wide draw for a first local win at his fourth start. Well-backed Magniac kept on well for second after rolling to the lead 850m out from gate 12. He's caught the eye in his two starts and will be saluting shortly. Wonder Kit stayed on nicely to just take third after chasing the speed in the box seat. Its only a matter of time before he salutes. Favourite Supreme Lucky flashed home late to just miss a placing after badly missing the kick by six lengths. It was a massive effort in defeat despite a rise in class after back-to-back wins. Pulsar Strider stayed on all right after a handy run wide without cover. It was another honest effort. Plunged late California Rad made some ground from midfield. He's in the right grade but requires a stronger rider. Early favourite Youthful Deal made a mild bid after a wide with cover run better than midfield. He didn't have an excuse. Setanta made some ground late near the inside travelling two from the rear. He may have needed the run off a two-month break.
