Racing Incident Report
Race Seven: (271) - THE PEARCE MEMORIAL CHALLENGE CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 3 - 1200Meters
MAGIC SUPREME began awkwardly and lost ground at the start.
WHISKEY NEAT and INTERSTELLAR both began awkwardly and bumped at the start.
From wide barriers, EVEN KEEL, COOL TEAM and INTERSTELLAR were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
On several occasions after the 1000 Metres, MAGIC SUPREME got its head up and raced ungenerously.
CALIFORNIA ARGENT raced wide and without cover from the 800 Metres.
COOL TEAM was held up for a short distance prior to the 300 Metres before being directed out across the heels of WHISKEY NEAT to obtain a run.
COOL TEAM then momentarily raced tight between WHISKEY NEAT and CALIFORNIA ARGENT.
After the race, G van Niekerk stated that after being ridden more patiently today, ISLAND SHINE travelled well through the early and middle stages in a three wide position but with cover.
He said the horse tended to look around when placed under pressure in the Straight and was disappointing in the manner in which it closed off the race.
A veterinary inspection of ISLAND SHINE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
COMPUTER PATCH and BEAUTY APPLAUSE were sent for sampling.

Odds-on pop Computer Patch took the entire straight to grab leader Beauty Applause by a lip for the win following a pace-stalking run. He lived up to an eye-catching debut last Sunda. Beauty Applause wouldn't go down without a fight after having to work hard to eventually clear for the lead 900m out. It was another fine performance carrying top weight. Glenealy Generals was closing with every stride to finish a close third travelling one off the fence better than midfield. E Star ran on steadily to fill the frame after a deep run with cover worse than midfield. Cool Team finished well despite being held up for a run until the 300m travelling third from the rear. It was a revitalized run in first-time blinkers. Champion Pride stayed on okay following a midfield run on the fence. It wasn't a bad effort in his first start in 237-days for his new trainer following multiple leg issues. Island Shine stayed on without menacing after a deep run beyond midfield.
