Recap by phillip woo
In a track-record setting performance, Glorious Artist kept on well after hitting the front 100m out from Travel First following a prominent run on the fence to score at his third start. He had proven artificial surface form overseas and can win another. Royal Performer came to win the race 100m out with a move from near last but found one better on the day. Favourite Willie Way closed well after pulling widest out for a clear run approaching the 200m from last to fill a placing. He's honest but is having timing troubles. Surface specialist Travel First stayed on well for fourth after pressing the hot pace of Gran Master and can pop up at any time. Punted late Crown Avenue peaked on his run 150m out after taking off from beyond midfield at the 800m. Things didn't go his way but he's certainly capable of better, especially if he can draw a proper gate. Gran Master faded after going too hard in front. He's more effective tracking the speed.
