Recap by phillip woo
Reunited with his favourite rider Joao Moreira, Thewizardofoz swooped to win going away 150m out after being ridden cold from a wide gate despite top weight to notch a record 92nd win for trainer John Size. The pace suited but he was too classy and should be competitive in the group races up to a mile next term. Winner's Way swept to the front 300m out after losing some ground when tossing his head about approaching the 800m and kept on well for second. He found one better on the day but is a smart type up to a mile going forward. Magic Legend peaked on his run 100m out after looming at least a runner-up chance at the 200m straightening two from the right following a patient ride third from the rear. It was a pleasing first run over the 1,400m and he remains a nice sprinter for next season. Jolly Banner stayed on all right after being held up until the 300m following a rails run in midfield. It was a decent effort but doesn't look good enough at this level of competition. Jack Wong Ho-man didn't know what to do when failing to muster enough speed to lead from a good gate and his decision to park outside Winner's Way without cover put the final nail in his coffin.
