Finally, a day when we could all catch our breath, a little bit anyway. After the excitement of Cheung Ka-long’s historic gold, and Siobhan Haughey’s bronze, we had the briefest moments of pause.

Well, not really. Hong Kong’s table tennis mixed doubles pair Doo Hoi-kem and Wong Chun-ting did their best to add another medal to the city’s tally, when they took on South Korea’s Lim Jong-hoon and Shin Yu-bin for bronze, but their opponents were simply too good.

China’s Sun Yingsha and Wang Chuqin then proceeded to halt the charge of the dark horses, North Korea’s Kim Kum-yong and Ri Jong-sik, as they took gold.

There should have also been the men’s triathlon to tell you about, but the water quality in the River Seine was found wanting yet again, and that has been moved to tomorrow.

Still, as usual, there was plenty happening in Paris and beyond in our live coverage of day 4.
