- Middleweight champion agrees to face Filipino heavyweight champion in Tokyo in October after beating Ken Hasegawa
Aung La N Sang knocked down Ken Hasegawa with a vicious right hand, followed up with a flurry of punches and it was all over. But then Brandon Vera stepped in the cage.
The middleweight champion’s loyal Burmese followers were bouncing for their hero’s entrance at the Ryogoku Sumo Hall in Tokyo. They were on the feet again when the referee stopped his title fight at 4:41 of the second round.
Before he could even celebrate, One’s heavyweight champion Vera was in there with him. But the Filipino was decked out in a smart suit rather than his fight gear, and it was announced that the two champions would face off in October in Tokyo for Aung La’s light heavyweight title.
“Mr Aung La, congratulations on your win tonight, you’re a man among men,” Vera said on the microphone. “I would like to see, if we’re both healthy and we’re both in shape and we both agree, could you and I meet here in japan in October to challenge you for the light heavyweight belt?”
