ONE Championship: Tawanchai PKSaenchaigym puts title on line at scene of Russell Crowe film
The Impact Arena in Bangkok will be the setting for the upcoming movie, along with another title fight, featuring Superlek and Carrillo
ONE 170 is set for Impact Arena in Bangkok on January 24. It will also serve as the set for the filming of some scenes for The Beast in Me, an upcoming movie featuring Gladiator star Russell Crowe.
Among the matches to have been confirmed so far are two title fights.
The main event will be a rematch that features Tawanchai PKSaenchaigym putting his featherweight Muay Thai title on the line against Superbon Singha Mawynn.
The two men first met at ONE Friday Fights 46 last December, with Tawanchai winning by majority decision. Since then, Superbon has beaten Marat Grigorian and Jo Nattawut, knocking out the latter with an elbow in Bangkok last month.
Tawanchai’s only win since the victory over Superbon also came at the expense of Nattawut but it was a much less convincing win. He beat the veteran by a majority decision at ONE 167, but the fans at Impact Arena were clearly unimpressed by the judge’s verdict on that occasion.
The other title fight sees Superlek Kiatmoo9 put his bantamweight Muay Thai title on the line against Nico Carrillo. The Thai won the belt by knocking out Jonathan Haggerty at ONE 168 in Denver last month.
