ONE Championship fans everywhere breathed a sigh of relief on Thursday evening when both Nong-O Hama and Jonathan Haggerty passed their hydration and weight checks for their bantamweight Muay Thai title fight in Bangkok, Thailand.

The two Muay Thai stars will meet in the main event of ONE Fight Night 9 on Saturday morning in the city’s famed Lumpinee Boxing Stadium. While the Thai champion Nong-O has never missed weight in ONE, his challenger Haggerty missed his mark for his last fight – a decision win over Vladimir Kuzmin in his bantamweight debut – and had plenty of doubters as he looked to clear his final hurdles for Saturday.

But the Briton passed both his hydration and weight checks on his first attempt, and was soon followed by the champion, who was also without issues.

While the main event for ONE Fight Night 9 is set – good news considering the top-heavy nature of the card – several fighters did run into problems on Thursday. That includes bantamweight Muay Thai contenders Han Zihao and Asa Ten Pow, who are set to compete against one another on Saturday.

Both fighters initially failed their hydration tests, but ultimately passed. Unfortunately, neither man made weight – Han because he suffered heatstroke during a run earlier in the day – and their fight will now be renegotiated as a catchweight.

Argentine newcomer Matias Farinelli also ran into trouble, failing to pass a pre-fight hydration test inside the allotted three-hour window. He will now need to pass a hydration test and weigh in, at which point his planned bantamweight MMA bout with Jhanlo Mark Sangiao can be renegotiated as a catchweight.

Brazil’s Dayane Cardoso failed her first attempt at a hydration test, but ultimately passed, and went on to make weight for her strawweight clash with Meng Bo, which could propel the winner into a fight with dominant champion Xiong Jingnan.
