Ramona Pascual may have to deal with an 11th-hour opponent change for her Invicta debut, but it has done nothing to dampen the Hong Kong fighter’s determination to leave her mark on the global stage of MMA in 2022.

The 33-year-old former UFC China Academy star (5-2) will face 36-year-old American Shamir Peshewa (2-0) in a featherweight co-main event of Wednesday night’s Invicta FC 45 card from Kansas, after Courtney King (4-2) had to withdraw this week.

“Starting the year off in the best possible way,” Pascual wrote in an Instagram post on Monday.

“Unfortunately Courtney had to withdraw but the awesome folks at @invictafc found me a game replacement. Grateful for the opportunity and exited to make a statement.”

Pascual, who fights out of Syndicate MMA, moved her life halfway across the world to Las Vegas in 2021, having grown frustrated at a lack of fight opportunities amid the pandemic.
