UFC 269: Tai Tuivasa extends streak with KO of Augusto Sakai, drinks ‘shoey’ and declares ‘let’s party’
- Tuivasa secures devastating second-round knockout on Saturday night’s undercard, extending his win streak to four fights
- ‘I come in, put a show on for the crowd. I’ll fight anyone,’ says Australian heavyweight after his biggest win

Australian heavyweight Tai Tuivasa picked up one of the biggest wins of his career on Saturday night in Las Vegas, shutting the lights out on Brazil’s Augusto Sakai in the second round of UFC 269 undercard fight.
Tuivasa, 28, was aggressive from the opening bell, walking his 30-year-old foe down and letting loose with some huge punches.
Sakai looked like he was making some fruitful adjustments in the waning moments of the first round, but Tuivasa came out with renewed aggression in the second, swarming the Brazilian against the cage and ultimately sealing the deal with a nuclear right hook.
The referee intervened at the 0:26 mark of round two, sparing Sakai from any further damage.
“I’m a f****** banger from Western Sydney, and I’ll bang with anyone,” a jubilant Tuivasa said in his post-fight interview with commentator Joe Rogan, moments after celebrating his win with a trademark “shoey” – the practice of drinking beer from a shoe.
