Triller Fight Club: UFC veterans such as Mike Perry set to compete in new hybrid combat sport
- Promotion launches Triad Combat, which will combine MMA and boxing rules in a triangular enclosure
- Mike Perry, Frank Mir, and several other notable MMA veterans are set to star in debut event
Former UFC welterweight star “Platinum” Mike Perry is one of several notable MMA veterans set to compete in a new combat sport created by Triller Fight Club.
The promotion elbowed its way into the combat sports industry over the last two years, with several big-ticket boxing matches involving stars like Mike Tyson, Roy Jones Jnr., Jake Paul, Ben Askren, Vitor Belfort, and Anderson Silva.
Triller will soon unveil a new combat sport called Triad Combat, which will be contested in a triangular enclosure and combine boxing and MMA rules in an effort to create a level playing field for athletes from the two sports.
The rules will more closely resemble those used in boxing, as only punches will be allowed, but will give MMA fighters a leg-up by allowing extensive clinching.
According to a report from MMA Junkie, the first Triad Combat event is slated for November 27, and will feature a number of UFC veterans, including Perry, former heavyweight champ Frank Mir, and former heavyweight contender Matt Mitrione.
