UFC 261: Daniel Cormier confronts Jake Paul in front row – ‘don’t play games with me’
- UFC commentator and former double champ speaks to Paul before main card opener in Jacksonville
- ‘I told Jake Paul don’t play with me. I’ll slap him in the face,’ Cormier says
Daniel Cormier got into a verbal altercation with Jake Paul before the start of the UFC 261 main card at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena.
YouTuber Paul – who knocked out Ben Askren within two minutes to extend his professional boxing record to 3-0 last weekend – was in the front row on Saturday night.
The 24-year-old seemingly antagonised former UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight champ Cormier, who was sitting at the cageside broadcast booth.
The 15,000-strong crowd in Jacksonville, Florida then erupted into a near-unanimous chant of “[expletive] Jake Paul”, and Cormier later expanded on the incident.
“I saw him,” Cormier said from the broadcast booth. “I told Jake Paul, ‘don’t play with me’. I’ll slap him in the face. I don’t play those games.”
