- ‘ONE already has a lot of killers … The pie’s looking good, I’m just putting a couple more cherries on top,’ says Abdelaziz
Ali Abdelaziz is bringing “a lot of muscle” to ONE Championship, and teased some big signing announcements later this week.
The Dominance MMA Management CEO, who looks after some of the biggest stars in the UFC such as champions Khabib Nurmagomedov, Kamaru Usman and Justin Gaethje, is expanding into Asia and sending some of his free agents to Asian martial arts promotion ONE.
“Me and Chatri [Sityodtong, CEO of ONE] talked, he’s a great man, a classy act, very well-educated,” Abdelaziz told SCMP MMA’s Post Fight. “We talked about the possibility of exporting some of the free agents I have to go be part of such a huge promotion. I’ve got a lot of respect for Chatri. We’ve got a lot of common friends, especially Mr Renzo Gracie, who loves him. We’re in the middle of signing three huge names with ONE Championship.”
“I work with almost 300 athletes worldwide, some of the best,” he added. “I told Chatri, ‘Listen, you have a huge car race, like an arena, and I’m the mechanic who has the Lamborghinis and the Ferraris and the very nice cars’. I said I wanna show up in Singapore, bring in all my Ferraris and Lamborghinis and put on some the best shows the world has ever seen.”
Abdelaziz did not confirm any names who will be signing with ONE, but hinted at bringing in a mixture of unknown prospects and legends.
“You look at Khabib – I have 10 Khabib Nurmagomedovs,” Abdelaziz said. “You look at Khamzat, I have 10 Khamzat Chimaevs. You look at Khabib’s younger brother, his name is Usman Nurmagomedov, who’s fighting this weekend [at UAE Warriors 12]. He’s a free agent, he’s still undefeated. He’s just as good as Khabib. He might be gong to ONE. We never know.
