It looks as if UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has switched targets and likes a heavyweight bout with Francis Ngannou – or at least likes the money that would come with it.

Jones (26-1, one no contest) tuned in to watch former 205-pound challenger Ovince Saint Preux make his heavyweight debut against veteran Ben Rothwell at UFC Fight Night on Wednesday. Despite Saint Preux's loss, the performance gave Jones some insight into how he himself would fare moving up a division.

“Man it was weird seeing [Saint Preux] fight at heavyweight, made it seem so much more real for me. Especially knowing he was at 240lbs. With a little more cardio, he would’ve been [cherry emoji]. I was visualising myself as him that whole fight,” Jones tweeted.

“Who would you guys consider the quicker and more technical striker Thiago Santos or Francis?” Jones wrote in another tweet, seemingly suggesting Ngannou would pose him loss problems than the Brazilian, whom he eked out a split decision against at UFC 239 last July.

“If you guys think I wouldn't take this fight you're insane. I have absolutely nothing else to prove as a light heavyweight. I'd love that big money fight right around now. Send the deal,” the 32-year-old Jones added

Ngannou (15-3) – who has openly expressed his “frustration” at the lack of movement at the top of the heavyweight division as champion Stipe Miocic tries to arrange logistics for his trilogy against former champion Daniel Cormier – threw his name into the hat immediately.
