UFC 249: Dana White ‘starting to believe’ Khabib vs Tony Ferguson fight is ‘cursed’

After Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Tony Ferguson fell through for a fifth time ahead of UFC 249, plenty of people have been joking that the match-up is simply cursed.
It’s a theory popularised by UFC commentator and YouTube podcast extraordinaire Joe Rogan – and now UFC president Dana White thinks he might be right.
“If you look at Tony vs Justin [Gaethje], it’s a ridiculous fight, and a fight that makes sense. Khabib vs Tony should be happening but should’ve happened five times ago.
“I’m starting to believe Joe Rogan that this fight is cursed.”
Gaethje will step in at short notice on April 18 – at a secret location in the US – with the interim lightweight title on the line.
“It’s a no-brainer. Everybody felt if Conor [McGregor] was gonna get a shot at Khabib that actually Gaethje should get it before Conor,” White said. “It couldn’t have worked out any better.
