UFC: Tony Ferguson’s message to fans who think Khabib fight is cursed – ‘go watch Bellator’
- ‘El Cucuy’ faces lightweight champion ‘The Eagle’ on April 18 after four unsuccessful attempts to hold the fight
- Ferguson calls Khabib fight contract talks ‘as smooth as a bumpy road’
Tony Ferguson wants to bat down any cursed or fifth-time-lucky rhetoric ahead of his fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov next year – a bout that has been cancelled four times in the past.
Undefeated lightweight champion Khabib (28-0) will defend his belt against 12-fight win streak Ferguson (25-3) on April 18 in Brooklyn, New York, the UFC confirmed last week.
“F*** no, you can stop right there. Don’t even get the fans going on that s***. We’re going to set the pace right now – I want the encouragement,” the 35-year-old said on Ariel Helwani’s MMA show on ESPN.
“F*** you, don’t watch this s***, don’t buy our stuff. Go watch Bellator or some other bulls***. Go find some knock off copy of what he got going on here ... this is the OGs, I’m the original genius right here.”
Their previous bouts were scheduled between 2015-18 but were cancelled for reasons of injury or weight-cut complications.
