UFC: Jorge Masvidal says Donald Trump has invited him to White House – ‘Colby Covington had to beg’
- Dates uncertain but Masvidal says invitation from US president is an ‘honour’
- ‘Gamebred’ mocks Covington, who went to Oval Office last year – ‘he begged Dana White, there’s a huge difference’
US President Donald Trump was given a close-up view as Jorge Masvidal pummelled Nate Diaz on his way to winning the “BMF” title via doctor stoppage at UFC 244 in Madison Square Garden.
“One bad [expletive] came to see another bad [expletive],” Masvidal told Yahoo Sports’ Kevin Iole, before but added “we didn’t get to talk” after the fight.
That’s about to change, now Trump has returned the favour and invited Masvidal to the White House.
“So we don’t know the dates yet, we don’t know when it is, but I did get that and that’s an honour, no matter what your political views are, that’s the president of this country,” he said.
Masvidal wouldn’t be the first UFC fighter to step into the Oval Office – his fellow American Top Team (ATT) fighter and former friend Colby Covington paid a visit last year, replete with MAGA hat and interim welterweight championship belt.
