UFC: Dominick Reyes says Jon Jones is ducking him – ‘his management is making excuses’
- No 4-ranked light heavyweight thinks champion is getting his agents to ‘make this go away’
- ‘The Devastator’ thinks he can ‘trouble’ Jones – ‘I’m long, I’m athletic, I’m fast, I have heart’
Dominick Reyes thinks Jon Jones is ducking him after his impressive first-round knockout of Chris Weidman at UFC Boston.
“The Devastator” is undefeated in MMA (12-0), with a 6-0 record in the UFC, and is still the No 4-ranked light heavyweight following his win against the former middleweight champion in one minutes, 43 seconds.
The 29-year-old called out the champion following his win last weekend, and “Bones” seemed receptive to the idea. He tweeted “many have talked s***, all have fallen, you will do the same”.
Jones’ manager Abe Kawa then suggested Reyes needs another win first, and that his previous victory against Volkan Oezdemir was suspect.
“I’ve done what I need to do at this point to get that fight,” Reyes told Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show, however. “My whole career has been a really fast rise. I’m finishing guys early and the higher-ups are noticing, that’s why I got in the UFC when I did. I’m a quick learner. I’m a dangerous guy that’s getting better every day.”
