Henry Cejudo made headlines recently by challenging UFC women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko to a fight for the “intergender championship”. But it seems there may be another female UFC fighter willing to take on “Triple C”.
Zhang Weili became China’s first UFC champion on Saturday night after defeating Brazilian strawweight queen Jessica Andrade by TKO in just 42 seconds.
The 30-year-old was asked at the post-event press conference at the Shenzhen Universiade Sports Centre if she had an interest in fight UFC men’s flyweight and bantamweight champion Cejudo.
“Yes, he can fight with me, but first he needs to go to Thailand and become … and changing [get a sex change] … then I will welcome him or her to the female division,” Zhang joked, via a translator.

However, in all seriousness, Zhang is likely to be fighting Tatiana Suarez next – and UFC president Dana White wants her next bout to be in the US on pay-per-view.
“I want her to fight in the United States. It’ll be a main event or a co-main event, she’ll be one of the top billings in the US,” White said.

Zhang said she would be willing to fight in the US but only if the UFC can help sort out the visa issues that saw several of her team prevented from attending her last fight in Las Vegas, against Tecia Torres at UFC 235 in March.
“I would like to get on a pay-per-view event, but also I want a pay-per-view event to be held In China, this is my wish,” she said.
“If Dana wants me to fight in the US it will be fine, but please get all of my corners visas done because last time my coach didn’t come and several of my corner can’t come because the visa issue.”
