One requires fighters to pass hydration tests before they are even allowed to weigh in during fight week, meaning they are fully hydrated come fight night instead of making dangerous drops in weight.

It also means, in theory, that fighters compete closer to their natural “walk around” weight, with weight classes set 10 pounds [4.5 kilograms] higher than the UFC.

“It’s a different world when there’s no weight cutting. I’m just such a giant fan of that no weight cutting deal they’re doing over at One FC,” Rogan said on his Joe Rogan Experience MMA Show. “Hydration tests, the way it’s explained to me is say you’re the 170 [pounds] champion, they say you’re gonna fight 185, there’s no weight cutting.”

Former UFC champions Eddie Alvarez and Demetrious Johnson, who made the switch to One last year, have both said they enjoy the system more than when they had to dehydrate themselves and lose some of their explosiveness.
