Superlek Kiatmoo9 remains the ONE Championship flyweight kickboxing king.
The Thai, 27, defended his belt in the main event of ONE Fight Night 8 on Saturday in Singapore, taking on Australia’s Danial Williams, who stepped in to replace Rodtang Jitmuangnon on five days’ notice.
The short-notice circumstances did not seem to bother the champion, who ultimately defended his title with a highlight reel knockout in round three.


In the ONE Fight Night 8 co-main event, Brazil’s Allycia Hellen Rodrigues defeated American Janet Todd by unanimous decision, unifying the atomweight Muay Thai title in the process.
Earlier on the card, Ham Seo-hee defeated Itsuki Hirata by unanimous decision, asserting herself as the top contender in ONE’s atomweight MMA division in the process.
Former strawweight kickboxing title challenger Zhang Peimian also picked up a big win in Singapore, defeating Torepchi Dongak by unanimous decision, as did debuting MMA fighters Keito Yamakita and Akbar Abdulaev, who defeated Alex Silva at strawweight and Oh Ho-Taek at featherweight respectively.

The ONE Fight Night 8 undercard kicks off at 7:00 am local time, with Tammi Musumeci and Bianca Basilio battling in a 10-minute strawweight submission grappling match.
After that, Ekaterina Vandaryeva will meet Iman Barlow in an anticipated strawweight Muay Thai fight, and Niclas Larsen will fight Eddie Abasolo in a 158-pound catchweight Muay Thai bout after the latter missed weight.

Less than two hours to go

ONE Fight Night 8 is officially under way, and Bianca Basilio and Tammi Musumeci will imminently walk to the Circle for the first fight of the night – a strawweight submission grappling match.
They will have a single 10-minute round to work with. If neither fighter gets a submission in that time, the decision win will go to the athlete with the most legitimate submission attempts.


Here we go!

The first takedown comes about a minute into the fight when Musumeci pulls guard and rolls into a leg attack. They spend a minute fishing for leg locks on each other, until the referee stands them up.
Musumeci is warned for repeated guard pulls – ONE has new rules on when fighters can pull guard. Basilio presses her into the cage, and Musumeci pulls her down to the mat. The American looks for another leg lock, then Basilio responds with an ankle lock attempt of her own.
The referee stands them up again, and Musumeci pulls guard – and gets another stern warning from the ref. They return to the feet, and at the four minute mark, hit the mat again. Musumeci works from bottom position. Basilio does a flashy cartwheel in an effort to pass guard, but it’s no good. They return to the feet.
With two minutes left, Basilio lands another takedown, but she can’t get through her opponent’s guard. Musumeci is again looking for a leg lock, and as we pass the one-minute mark, she briefly attacks an arm.
With two seconds left, Basilio attacks a leg lock – arguably the best attempt of the fight but it’s hard to say.
Then the clock runs out. There’s no questioning the talent of these women but they seemed to stall out against each other.


Basilio and Musumeci go the distance

Tammi Musumeci wins a unanimous decision – but not everyone is going to agree with that result.
It was a razor-close match – primarily because not much actually happened.

However, the American had some nice leg attacks from the bottom, which is probably what swayed the judges.
It’s her first win in ONE. For Basilio, its back to the drawing board after a quick sub against Milena Sakumoto in her debut in November.


Musumeci wins decision in debut

We go from submission grappling to Muay Thai, as England’s Iman Barlow takes on Belarusian Ekaterina Vandaryeva at strawweight.
Vandaryeva has a lot of experience in ONE, but Barlow is considered one of the division’s top fighters, and could get a shot at champion Smilla Sundell with a win.


Muay Thai up next

Both women are aggressive to start with round one, but it’s Barlow pushing forward. Vandaryeva is winging some crackling punches combos, but they are mostly missing, and Barlow is already softening her up with kicks to the body.
As we reach the half way point of the first round Barlow begins landing kicks to the legs. She is hitting Vandaryeva at multiple altitudes, despite having a reach disadvantage.
Vandaryeva hits the deck at the end of the round – but it’s a dump, not a knockdown.


Barlow starts strong

Round two begins and it’s Barlow pushing forward again. They trade kicks, then Barlow throws a few more, then a few more. She is a tremendous kicker, and her movement is allowing her to dart in and out of range and create angles.
By the one-minute mark, Vandaryeva is beginning to look helpless.

She is firing back, but she’s eating four or five strikes to land one, and what she’s landing doesn’t seem to be doing much.
With less than a minute left, Barlow knocks Vandaryeva down – but it’s not clear if it will be scored as a knockdown. The Briton stumbles briefly, but then gets back to kicking and does not stop till round two ends.


Barlow takes control

Round three begins, and Vandaryeva is clearly on her way to a decision loss if she doesn’t make something happen. The Belarusian pushes forward, and gets to work with straight punches, but within 30 seconds, she is getting pushed back by Barlow again.
Barlow charges in with a huge kick to the body. The way she closes distance to land her kicks is pretty amazing. Barlow lands and elbow, and Vandaryeva spins to land one in return – but neither does much damage. More kicks from Barlow land, to the legs, the body, the arms. She is relentless.
Barlow’s dominance continues into the final minute. Vandaryeva lands a straight right at the final bell, but it’s much too late.


A dominant performance

As expected, Iman Barlow wins a unanimous decision. She is now 2-0 in ONE after a KO win over Daniela Lopez in her debut.
She does not get a post-fight interview.



UD for Barlow

The undercard will wrap up with another Muay Thai bout, as Denmark’s Niclas Larsen takes on American Eddie Abasolo at a catchweight of 158.5lbs. The fight was originally set to be contested at featherweight – 155lbs – but Abasolo missed weight.
Larsen will be looking for his first ONE win after losses to Tawanchai PK. Saenchai and Jimmy Vienot in his first two bouts.
Abasolo is also winless in ONE, having dropped a decision to Liam Nolan in his promotional debut.


More Muay Thai

They touch gloves and Abasolo lands a hard low kick. Larsen is pushing forward, but Abasolo is throwing some huge punches when they get close.
Larsen lands a hard kick to the back leg. Abasolo pushes Larsen back with two push kicks. The Danish fighter is bleeding badly from above his left eye – it’s not clear when that happened, but the referee is watching closely.
The referee pauses the fight and the doctor checks Larsen out. He wipes the blood of the Dane’s forehead and chest, and leaves the Circle, allowing the fight to continue to a big pop from the crowd.
They tie up and trade hooks. Abasolo lands a low kick, then they clinch again, and the American smashes an elbow into his foe’s head – right near the cut.
Larsen is pushing forward relentlessly now, perhaps sensing he has some catching up to do.
Abasolo lands a spinning elbow, then a few more straight elbows, and the round ends.


Abasolo draws blood

Larsen pushes forward, but eats a couple of elbows as he closes in. Then he gets pushed to the ground by a push kick. He needs to be careful or he’s going to get knocked out on the way in.
Larsen lands a kick and some nice punches as the second minute gets underway, but Abasolo still seems to be landing the harder shots. Then Larsen catches a kick and lands a hard right hand – maybe his best strike of the fight so far. A moment later he lands a straight punch, but gets clobbered by a huge right hand in return.

The Danish fighter crashes to the mat, and can barely stay upright when he regains his feet.
The ref waves it off!


KO for Abasolo

The official time of Abasolo’s knockout win is 2:14 of round two. He’s now 1-1 in ONE, while Larsen is a tough 0-3 with the promotion.
Commentator Mitch Chilson joins the American in the Circle for an interview.

“I feel like a million dollars right now,” he says.
“I didn’t know how he was going to come out. I just came out here and tried to break his rhythm.”


‘I feel like a million dollars’

We’re three fights down, and it’s time for the ONE Fight Night 8 main card.
First up it’s a strawweight MMA clash between Brazil’s Alex Silva and Japan’s Keito Yamakita.
Silva is a former champ in ONE, while the undefeated Yamakita is a former title-holder in Japan’s respected Pancrase promotion.
They will walk to the Circle momentarily.


Silva vs. Yamakita starts the main card

The broadcast begins with a tribute to former ONE lightweight MMA title challenger Iuri Lapicus, who died earlier this week after a motorcycle accident in Italy. He was 27.

A tribute to Iuri Lapicus

Silva and Yamakita have three five-minute rounds to work with. The first is under way.
They touch gloves to start. Yamakita lands a few leg kicks, and Silva responds with one of his. Then the Japanese fighter charges in and completes a double-leg takedown on the BJJ world champion.
Silva throws is legs up for triangle, then transitions to an omoplata, but neither caches. They scramble and Silva briefly gets top position, but then Yamakita retakes the position.

Yamakita spends about a minute in top position, lands some ground strikes, then a grounded knee to the head – legal in ONE. He looks briefly for an arm-in guillotine, but Silva turns the tables with a double leg takedown.
They scramble, and scramble again. This is a great grappling match.
With 30 seconds left, Silva lands a grounded knee, and works toward a north-south choke, but it’s no good.
Onto round two.


A scramble-filled first round

Yamakita lands a nice punch early in round one and hurts Silva. He smells blood and lands a few more. Silva dives for a desperate takedown, but Yamakita fights it off and lands some strikes on the ground, including a grounded knee. He winds up in top position.
We’ve blown past the first minute and Yamakita is still on top. Silva looks for an armbar then a leg lock, but there’s nothing there. The Japanese fighter lands more grounded knees. He seems very comfortable with the ONE rule set.

More ground strikes from Yamakita, who then takes Silva’s back. They scramble and Silva ends up on top. More scrambles, and Yamakita gets top position back. he throws some violent ground strikes.
They scramble again, and the round ends with Yamakita reigning down ground strikes.


Yamakita takes charge

Silva’s corner encourages him to “leave it all out there” and round three begins. He lands some punches on his Japanese foe, but then he is taken down again, and ends up with Yamakita on top of him.
They transition, and now it’s Silva on top with three and a half minutes left in the fight. He looks for the arm triangle, then takes his foe’s back when that fails. Suddenly, this is fight is looking winnable for him.

Yamakita stands up, and Silva is on his back like a backpack, but the Japanese fighter finally shrugs him off and they return to the feet.
Yamakita lands a leg kick, then a step-in left hook. Next it’s a right hand that he uses to enter into a takedown, which he completes.
They scramble until the fight ends – and it looks like a clear Yamakita win.


Yamakita’s momentum continues

Keito Yamakita defeats Alex Silva by unanimous decision – quite a statement for a debuting fighter.
He’s now 8-0 as a pro, and will probably get a ranked strawweight contender in his next fight.


Yamakita wins debut

Next up is a 128-pound catchweight Muay Thai belt between Aslanbek Zikreev from Russia and Portugal’s Rui Botelho. Both men lost their last ONE bouts, but have proven they know how to entertain. This should be a fun one.


Back to Muay Thai

Round one is under way, and Russia’s Zikreev lands two kicks. Botelho fires back with some punches, and the Russian stumbles him with a kick to the body. Zikreev presses forward and they tie up. Zikreev lands a dump. Botelho throws some punches to get the Zikreev off of him, but the Russian keeps pushing forward. They clinch and he lands another dump.
With a minute left Zikreev lands a spinning back first. They clinch twice more and the Russian dumps his foe both times.
They return to a feet and Botelho lands a jab that causes the Russian’s eye to puff up, then an overhand right. He’s still in this fight as we head to round two.


Zikreev leading the dance

Zikreev throws a bunch of wild strikes, but nothing lands clean. He continues to press forward, but his eye is badly compromised.
The Russian is landing some big shots – including some slick spins – but Botelho continues to land in return.
Zikreev lands a dump just past the two minutes mark, and follows it up with some kicks. He is throwing like crazy this round, not giving Botelho any room to breathe.



Relentless pace from Zikreev

We’re a minute into round three, and despite the damage to his right eye, Zikreev is still plodding forward, hammering Botelho with kicks to the legs and body and winging punches. To make matters worse he is dodging most of his opponent’s return fire.
We reach the final minute and it looks like Botelho will need a miracle. He is getting bullied all around the cage.
Suddenly it looks like he might have his miracle, as he hurts Zikreev with a left hand. It’s not counted as a knockdown, but it’s easily his best strike of the fight.
But the Russian survives, so it’s probably too little late.

A late surge from Botelho

Aslanbek Zikreev wins the fight by split decision, rebounding from a decision loss to Zhang Peimian in his last ONE fight.
Rui Botelho, despite a few gutsy efforts, is now a tough 1-4 in ONE.

Next up is a strawweight kickboxing clash pitting China’s Zhang Peimian against Russia’s Torepchi Dongak.
It will be Zhang’s first fight since he lost a decision to Jon Di Bella in a fight for the division’s vacant title last fall. Dongak will be making his ONE debut.
They walk to the Circle now.


Zhang Peimian returns

They are off to a breakneck start.
Within the first 30 seconds, both fighters have landed at least 10 strikes apiece. By the end of the first minute, they must have tripled that.
The tempo slows down after a minute, and Peimian lands a sizzling three-punch combo to the body.

They exchange and Zhang concludes with a body kick. Dongak’s body is already looking red, and Zhang fires off another punching combo and kick that hit their target.
Dongak is pushing forward but he’s getting hit over and over on the way in – almost alway to the torso. By the time the first round end, it’s a miracle he’s standing.


Zhang batters the body

Dongak lands some good kicks to start round two, but Zhang’s body shots keep coming in response. For a while the Russian seems to eat them, but as we pass the minute mark, he seems to be hurt.
Zhang uncorks another combo the body, then another after Dongak fires back with an overhand. He lands a kick to the body, then throws a flying knee that’s blocked. They exchange wildly and the Chinese fighter lands an uppercut to the body.
Dongak lands a push kick to the face but Zhang gets right back to his body assault.
The Chinese star ends the round in complete control.


Dominance from Zhang

Round three begins and it seems like Zhang wants a finish. He lands a series of blistering combos against the cage, but somehow Dongak fights on.
The Russian pushes forward, but continues to be punished as he advances. Zhang throws a kick and Dongak stumbles backwards – he is starting to look exhausted, and that’s no surprise.
Another combo from Zhang lands. Dongak is trying to keep him at bay with push kicks and counter with looping hooks, but nothing is landing anymore.

Zhang lands another hard punch to the midsection, then tries a flying knee. Dongak’s mouth is hanging open. He looks exhausted.
Zhang launches a few more assaults to finish the fight.


Clear-cut

Zhang Peimian rebounds from his loss to Jon Di Bella with a unanimous decision win. He’s now 2-1 in ONE.
He joins commentator Mitch Chilson for an interview, and calls for a rematch with the champion.

It’s then announced that Zhang will receive a US$50,000 from ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong – the first post-fight bonus of the card.


Zhang gets bonus, calls out JDB

Up next is a featherweight MMA fight between South Korea’s Oh Ho-teak and Kyrgyzstan’s Akbar Abdullaev.
Oh defeated Ryogo Takahashi by split-decision in his ONE debut last September. Abdullaev will be making his ONE debut with a perfect 8-0 record.

Oh throws a punch and kick, but it’s Abdulaev pushing forward to start round one. Then the Kyrgyzstani featherweight lands a crackling uppercut that causes the South Korea’s legs to give out.
A few ground strikes later, and it’s over.

A statement debut from Abdulaev!

Abdulaev’s knockout win is made official by announcer Dom Lau, and he joins commentator Mitch Chilson for an interview.
“I’m in a hurry for that belt,” he said after the win – his eighth first-round finish.
“I was planning to use all my weapons by I finished him with an uppercut.”
Chilson then announces Abdulaev has received a $US50,000 bonus courtesy of ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong.
“This is just the beginning for me,” he says after thanking Chatri, with a huge smile on his face.

Up next is an atomweight MMA clash between top contenders Ham Seo-hee and Itsuki Hirata from South Korea and Japan respectively.
This is arguably the most anticipated fight on the card, and the winner could get a crack at the belt.
Here we go!


Ham vs Hirata up now!

Round one gets under way, and the two fighters touch gloves.
Ham, a kickboxer, is inching forward, working her feints. She is walking Hirata down, but the Japanese fighter has her right hand cocked, waiting for a big counter. Hirata, a judo specialist, ducks in for a takedown, but there’s nothing behind it. A minute later, she tries again but it’s still no good.
Ham begins to get to work with her jab. Hirata dives in on a single leg, but Ham sprawls on her and they return to the feet.

Ham lands a left down the middle, then sprawls on a Hirata takedown and narrowly avoids an elbow on the break. Ham lands a few punches, but she is very measured. Hirata responds with a right hand that lands, then dives in on a takedown. She grabs hold of Ham’s leg, but the takedown is denied, and she gets cracked with a knee as they break.
Ham throws a right hand. Hirata ducks under it for a takedown, but she’s stopped again. Round one ends, and it was a close one.


A measured first round

Referee Herb Dean warns Itsuki Hirata that he wants to see more action in round two or she’ll get a yellow card.
Ham is pawing out with her left hand, and Itsuki fires a right in return, then another. Ham stings Hirata with a punch, then denies a takedown again. They are still being quite timid, but Ham is turning it up a bit.
As we close in on the three minute mark, Hirata shoots on a takedown, but it’s thwarted and she ends up on her back. Hirata then muscles her way out from the bottom and takes back control. They return to the feet and Hirata looks for a single-leg against the cage – and this time she gets it.

With two minutes left, Hirata has Ham trapped against the cage. Ham pops back up but gets hit with a right hand as they move.
They return to the striking, and it’s Ham pushing forward, and Hirata looking to counter. Ham lands a left hand, and Hirata shoots in for another takedown. It’s denied and she eats a knee, then a left hand.
They trade against the cage to end round two, and Hirata is beginning to look tired and frustrated.


Picking up steam...

Ham lands a straight punch to start round three. Hirata is back on the back foot, and Herb Dean gives her a yellow card. That means she’ll lose 10 per cent of her purse. She also seems to be having trouble with one of her eyes – but Ham of course will not relent with her striking.
Hirata dives in on a single-leg takedown. Ham fights it off initially, but the Japanese fighter eventually gets it. Hirata then spends close to a minute trying to improve position against the cage, but Ham isn’t giving her an inch.

Eventually Ham slips towards her foe’s back, and squeezes in some hammer fists. The South Korean is starting to pull away with this fight – Hirata has not been able to get her game going.
They briefly separate and Ham lands a grounded kick, but Hirata eats it. With less than a minute left, Hirata hits a sweep and lands on top. They pop back to the feet, and Hirata plows her foe into the cage as the fight ends.
To the judges we go.


To the judges...

Ham Seo-hee wins her anticipated fight with Itsuki by unanimous decision.
“I was actually quite nervous,” she says in her post-fight interview with commentator Mitch Chilson. “Throughout the fight I had some difficulties, but I’m glad I won the fight in the end.”
The South Korean was already ranked No. 2 at atomweight before the fight. Now 3-0 in ONE, she could be up next for a title shot at atomweight.



UD for Ham

We’ve now reached the co-main event of the evening, which will see undisputed atomweight Muay Thai champion Allycia Hellen Rodrigues attempt to unify her title with interim champ Janet Todd.
The pair were originally set to meet back in December, but the fight fell through when the American Todd tested positive for Covid-19.
That delay only made the fight more anticipated, and there is no telling how it will unfold, as both women are truly world class fighters.

After months and months of waiting, Janet Todd and Allycia Hellen Rodrigues are in the Circle together.
They trade kicks to start. Todd catches a kick and eats a punch, then goes high with a kick that misses. Todd throws three kicks that land, and Rodrigues responds with one. The Brazilian is inching forward, but Todd is throwing more. The American lands another kick, and eats one in response.
The Singapore crowd lets fly a few USA chants. Rodrigues is still inching forward, but Todd is still making her pay with kicks. Rodrigues lands a straight right, Todd lands two more kicks, and the round ends.


A tense first round

Round two begins and Rodrigues is back to pushing forward, which seems to be playing right into Todd’s hands.
The American lands a body kick, then a leg kick, then another body kick. Rodrigues fires off a punch. Todd throws two punches, then a low kick. She is throwing far more volume than the undisputed champ, which will matter when the scorecards are tallied.
Half way through the round, Todd lands a nice straight punch. Rodrigues lands one against the cage but eats a hook in return. Todd’s kicks continue to land.

Todd steps in and lands and uppercut and right hand that land clean, but Rodrigues eats them. Her boxing is working almost as well as her kicks now.
A great round for the interim champ


Todd taking control

Todd’s coach Bryan Popejoy encourages her to counter Rodrigues as the Brazilian moves forward – a strategy that has been paying dividends so far. But Rodrigues starts round three with a spike of urgency, and lands some huge punches to Todd’s head. Todd eats them, but she won’t want to eat too many more. They tie up, break, and Rodrigues swarms again with punches and elbows. Todd is cut now, and leaking blood from her right brow. Suddenly, we have ourselves a fight.
With less than a minute left they clinch up, and the referee breaks them to have the doctor examine Todd’s cut. The cut is leaking right into her eye, but the doctor allows her to continue.
Rodrigues gets back to her boxing, but Todd wisely clinches and the end the round trading knees to the body.


Rodrigues surges back

Into the championship rounds we go.
Rodrigues gets back to her power punches, and throws a high kick. Todd is trying to maintain her range and get back to work with her own kicks, but the Brazilian seems to have found her range.
Rodrigues wades in with a one two, and after a brief clinch, she cracks Todd with two more punches. Todd responds with two kicks, but Rodrigues is doing a better job checking them than she was before.
They clinch and trade knees, break, and clinch. Both women have great cardio, but their pace is slowing a bit.
In the final minute Todd smiles and throws a kick. It misses, they tie up, and Rodrigues tries to sneak in some elbows.
Todd throws to low kicks then lands a snapping jab. Rodrigues fires back but nothing lands, and the round ends.


A close round

Todd starts round five with a 1-2 then a body kick, then they clinch. They break, and Rodrigues pushes forward in pursuit of elbows. They tie up again and trade knees.
Rodrigues is walking through everything Todd is throwing. She’s eating a lot of shots on the way in, but landing once she gets in range.
90 seconds left and they trade leg kicks. Todd whiffs on a head kick. They trade punches, then clinch again, and Rodrigues throws the American down to the mat.

Todd lands a 1-2 and eats a body shot. Todd lands a jab, then throws a kick. They trade kicks, and then Rodrigues lands a hard one to the body. They clinch, Rodrigues pushes the interim champ to the ground, and the round ends.
To the judges we go. This one will seemingly come down to Todd’s countering vs Rodrigues’ aggression.

Rodrigues unifies the atomweight Muay Thai championship with a unanimous-decision win over Todd. ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong places a giant gold belt on her shoulder, and she joins commentator Mitch Chilson for a post-fight interview.
“I’m very happy,” the champion said, fighting back tears. “I put everything I had into the win.
“I’ve been training very hard for this moment, and hopefully I got to show everyone what I’ve been doing.”
Rodrigues concluded her interview by calling for a rematch with Todd – this time with American’s kickboxing title on the line.
“I’ll be ready,” she says.


Rodrigues is undisputed

We’ve reached the final fight of the night, and it’s a good one.
Flyweight kickboxing champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 will attempt to defend his title against the hard-charging Danial Williams, who stepped in to replace Rodtang Jitmuangnon on just five days’ notice.
The Thai champion is a big favourite in the matchup, but Williams, who flew in from Australia, is full of confidence and primed for an upset.


Main event up next

Williams and Superlek are in the cage, and the flyweight kickboxing belt is officially up for grabs.
Williams is light on his feet early, and he will need to be. Superlek lands a straight kick, then a snapping leg kick. Williams lands a straight left, then an inadvertent low blow that briefly pauses the action.
Williams is moving well, staying just outside Superlek’s kicking range, but he’s having a hard time getting into punching range. They trade low kicks, then Superlek lands a very hard one. Williams catches a kick and drops Superlek with a punch – but it won’t cunt as a knockdown.
Superlek is prowling forward and landing kicks to the legs and body. He lands a low blow but the referee doesn’t intervene. More leg kicks from Superlek. Williams throws a long left hook but it misses. He lands a right as the round ends.


A fun first round

Williams throws a huge punch to start round two, then goes kick for kick with Superlek. Superlek throws a head kick, but Williams dodges it and throws a low kick. The Thai lands a body kick and Williams lands a right hand.
Williams body is already bright red from the champion’s kicks, but he’s still moving well in spite of the leg kicks. Superlek throws a head kick, and Williams throws an overhand, then eats a hard body kick.

Superlek leaps in on a flying knee then throws a head kick. Williams seems flustered but survives. The Australian throws a wild hook back and eats a push kick.
The champion is walking the challenger down now. Williams lands a left hook then eats a body shot in return. Superlek throws a knee, then another.


Superlek getting to work

Williams throws a low kick, and Superlek throws a head kick that just misses. Superlek throws a knee then a head kick, and mixes in the jab. He is timing Williams really well now.
The champ throws a low kick and eats a hard one back, then throws a knee. At the one minute mark he lands a snapping leg kick. Williams throws a push kick, then gets smashed by a kick. He hits the canvas in a heap.
Williams survives the referee’s count, but Superlek swarms him, and finishes him with punches.
That was violent.

Superlek KOs Williams

Superlek is handed the belt by ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong, and Williams lifts the champion’s hand in the air as a show of respect. The Circle is a blizzard of gold confetti, and the Thai joins commentator Mitch Chilson for a post-fight interview.
“I really felt the pressure in the first round,” he says. “I studied very little from his previous fights, but I cornered him and used my kicks.”
Superlek then set his sights on Muay Thai champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon, who he was supposed to fight tonight.
“My next goal will be to challenger Rodtang for his Muay Thai world title. He’s the best and I want to take him down.”
Chilson then reveals Superlek has won a US$50,000 bonus from ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong.
