Asian Games bronze medallist Jason Ng Tai-long is recovering at home after nearly being killed in a collision with a bus while out training on Hong Kong’s roads.

The 24-year-old said he had been trapped between roadside railings and the vehicle near Ma Mei Ha in Fanling during a bike ride, as he prepared for the Triathlon World Cup event in the city next month.

Police said its accidents investigation team in New Territories North was looking into a hit-and-run on Sha Tau Kok Road, which involved a “yellow double-decker bus”.

Describing last week’s incident, which caused injuries to the left side of his body, Ng said he had been hit in a no-passing zone.

“As the bus decided to overtake, the driver must have then seen the traffic islands/bollards in the middle of the road and abruptly swung back into the lane before he even overtook me,” the Hong Kong triathlete wrote in a post on his Instagram account.
