Asian Netball Championships: Hong Kong ‘know we can win’ after showing fight against Sri Lanka
- Sri Lanka stay undefeated after 62-51 win, but Krystle Edwards says Hong Kong have ‘good chance’ in Saturday semi-final – ‘we just have to believe’
- Goal shooter Edwards carried off in the final quarter after a nasty fall, but is optimistic she will be fit for next game in Singapore

Hong Kong star Krystie Edwards said “we know we can win” after the side showed lots of fight in their 62-51 group stage loss to undefeated Sri Lanka at the Asian Netball Championships in Singapore on Thursday night.
The defending champions and five-time winners of the event took an early lead and looked unstoppable as they forced a less experienced Hong Kong into a lopsided chase.
Hong Kong, however, did show signs of brilliance, particularly in the second half where they mounted a comeback to close the deficit and threaten their opponents, but it was not enough.
“The good news is that we know we can win,” Krystle Edwards, goal shooter and president of the Hong Kong Netball Association, said after the match.
“We won the third quarter and were winning in the fourth quarter too. We know what strategies worked against them so likely we are going to have to play Sri Lanka [in the semi-finals] on Saturday, so now we just have to believe.
“We will practise and tweak a few things tomorrow at training, tighten up, and I think we have a good chance.”
