Kitchee captain Lo Kwan-yee is hoping the adage “third time lucky” will help him break his Senior Shield duck after leading his club to the final with a 3-0 win over Wong Tai Sin on Saturday.

Goals from Lam Ka-wai, Jorge Tarres and Juan Belencoso in front of a 1,200-strong crowd on a chilly afternoon capped a dominant Kitchee display in a semi-final at Mong Kok Stadium.

The final on January 17 will be Lo’s third since joining Kitchee in 2007.

“We lost both previous finals and I hope to erase those bitter memories,” said the Hong Kong international. “We enjoyed a good run today outclassing our opponents in every department, especially with our strong firepower up front.”

Kitchee will not know their opponents until after Sunday's other semi-final between South China and Eastern.

Eastern beat Kitchee 3-1 in the 2007-08 final, the first season with Lo in the team. Three seasons later, Kitchee were 2-0 up in the final against South China at Siu Sai Wan Sports Ground, but conceded four goals in a row to miss out on the trophy again.

Wong Tai Sin stunned Sun Pegasus in the previous round, but failed to repeat their feat yesterday, losing momentum when halfway through the first half, midfield powerhouse Lam curled in a free kick from a tight angle on the right side with the Wong Tai Sin defence expecting a cross.
