The 30-year-old will represent Hong Kong in the men's IMCO class, which has seen him win the world championship and the Asian championship, but the Asiad gold has so far eluded him. IMCO is no longer an Olympic class competition after the 2004 Athens Olympic Games.

"I am not young any more and if I cannot win a medal in Incheon, I will have to consider my future as an athlete," said Cheng, who lifted the 2006 World Championship mistral title in Shenzhen and was the Asian mistral champion last year and this year. "I have been focusing on this class after the last Asian Games in Guangzhou and a gold medal will be my target."
