"It will be a great experience for him and his impressive pace on the wing will be a bonus for us."

Varty, 27, will travel to London on May 22 to join the Barbarians and train alongside the likes of Italy's Sergio Parisse, All Blacks' flyhalf Nick Evans, France No 8 Imanol Harinordoquy and Springbok Jaque Fourie.

The Barbarians play England at Twickenham on May 26 followed by the historic match against the Lions in Hong Kong.

Quinnell said: "Over the years players from more than 30 nations have represented the Barbarians and now Rowan Varty will be the first Hong Kong national to do so."
