FA Cup holders Manchester United sneaked into the fifth round thanks to a controversial stoppage-time winner by Harry Maguire.

The defender headed home Bruno Fernandes’ free-kick to complete a turnaround against his former club, but did so from an offside position.

Yet, with no VAR at this stage of the competition, the goal stood and United beat Leicester 2-1.

Bobby De Cordova-Reid had given the visitors, managed by former United forward Ruud van Nistelrooy, a first-half lead before Joshua Zirkzee equalised with a close-range finish into an empty net.

It was the first time a United forward had found the back of the net since he netted a similar goal in the 4-3 defeat to Tottenham on December 19.
