Tottenham Hotspur striker Son Heung-min has celebrated being named to the Fifa 21 video game’s English Premier League Team of the Season.
“What a way to start my journey with Fifa … Fifa 21 Team of the Season,” Son wrote on Instagram on Friday, before a widely observed blackout of social media by English Premier League clubs and players.
Who is Son Heung-min?
The team was announced on Thursday on the EA Sports Fifa Twitter account the day before its arrival in the video game.
The game’s official account was among those to take part in English football’s ongoing social media blackout in response to racism, which began on Friday.

Son was at the centre of what triggered that collective blackout when Spurs played Manchester United last month.
The South Korea skipper as subject to racist abuse on social media following his part in a disallowed goal for the visitors and then opening the scoring minutes later.

Spurs stood by their star after what they called “abhorrent” abuse.
“Another match day and more abhorrent racial abuse suffered by one of our players,” Spurs wrote on Twitter.
“This has again been reported to the platforms and we shall now undertake a full review alongside the Premier League to determine the most effective action moving forward. We stand with you, Sonny.”

That in turn led to all of the English Premier League clubs lead a boycott of social media this weekend, with many media outlets and journalists following suit.
Manchester United announced on Friday ahead of the social media blackout that they had banned six supporters for abusing Son online.
Son scored again for Spurs on Saturday as they beat Sheffield United 4-0, his 16th English Premier League goal of the season and the most he has scored in a single campaign since signing in 2016.
Some pundits including former Spurs striker Peter Crouch have tipped Son to be named the league’s player of the season.
