Singapore start-up hopes ‘Koach’ platform will take digital football coaching to the next level
- The application was originally meant for academic purposes but coach Ryan Elton saws its potential as a tool for football learning and management
- England’s Orange academy and the Netherlands’ International Sports Revolution are using the app, with English Premier League teams also in discussions

Tariq Cassim was chatting casually with experienced coach Ryan Elton in Singapore about a new digital education platform his company was working on to help teachers and students interact online.
Cassim, CEO of Singapore-based KNOD Pte Ltd, ask Elton if the application would benefit the football coaching industry. Ryan, aka The Movement Coach who has worked with clubs such as Chelsea, Norwich and Cambridge United, watched a demo and was instantly sold.
“We got into a conversation about the platform we had just built and the opportunities it had within the academic sector,” said Cassim.
“It was during this conversation that I happened to ask Ryan that as an internationally reputed coach who has worked in many countries, if he sees any potential for this platform to be used in soccer. We did a demonstration of the platform to him, and his immediate answer was yes.”

The platform, known as Koach, allows coaches to keep tabs on their players even away from the field of play. Dozens of videos offer individual training programmes that players can perform in their own time.
Coaches can keep track of players’ form, injuries and see who is available for their next fixture. Parents whose children are part of a football academy or team are also given access to the data.
