The football season may feel like it just ended, probably because it did, but the new one is upon us already and that means Fantasy Premier League is back, too.
Everyone’s chance to prove they can outwit friends, family and colleagues kicks off with the English Premier League on September 12 and you have until 90 minutes before kick-off to tinker with your team.
That has changed from 60 minutes last season so if you remember only one thing, make sure it is the deadline.
Until then it’s time to create the very best team you possibly can – and we have some hints and tips for you to make sure you fight for the office crown and whatever other mini-leagues you are in.

The summer is a time of great change in the football world and the transfer market is sure to have an impact on the Fantasy Premier League as much as its real life equivalent.
In the meantime the boffins at FLP Towers have made some moves of their own, giving 18 players new positions compared to last season.

That could mean more points for you.
The biggest change is Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubemayang (£12.0m) being moved from a forward to a midfielder. The Gabonese goal machine has scored more goals than any other EPL player since he arrived at The Emirates in January 2018, and he scored 22 last season from the left wing.
Over at Old Trafford there has been a shake-up up front with three players changing positions. Anthony Martial (£9.0m) has been moved from midfielder to forward while Marcus Rashford (£9.5m) and last season’s bargain buy Mason Greenwood (£7.5m) have switched the other way.

Rashford and Martial had their most productive seasons in front of goal but Martial will get fewer points for hitting the back of the net this time around, while Greenwood’s jump from £4.5m could be offset by getting more points per goal.
West Ham‘s Michail Antonio (£6.5m) is another to make the move from midfield to forward along with Everton’s Richarlison (£8.0m). Antonio netted eight times in the last seven game weeks after being pushed up front by David Moyes.
It’s the same shift as Sheffield United’s Callum Robinson (£5.5m) and Aston Villa pair Keinan Davis (£4.5m) and Indiana Vassilev (£4.5m). Davis is a bargain for the bench, having featured in most of their post-lockdown games.

Going the other way – and picking up more points per goal – are Arsenal’s injured Gabriel Martinelli (£5.0m), Everton’s Anthony Gordon (£4.5m) and Wolves schemer Diogo Jota (£6.5m). The Portugal international has fallen down the pecking order at Molineux in recent weeks though.
Further back, Fernandinho (£5.5m) is now a defender rather than midfielder for Manchester City, a move also made by Tottenham pair Ryan Sessegnon (£5.0m) and Eric Dier (£5.0m).
Three players have been moved into midfield from defence: Fabian Delph (£5.0m) of Everton, Matt Ritchie at Newcastle United (£5.0m) and Sheffield United’s John Lundstram (£5.5m).
Lundstram was one of the game’s highest scoring defenders last season as the Blades impressed on their return to the top flight. There will be no more clean sheet bonuses for Lundstram this season, and that is if he can even get in the team with Chris Wilder threatening to bench him if his commitment drops off during ongoing contract talks.
