Chinese fans of Juventus and Inter Milan clash ahead of friendly match in Nanjing after ‘theft in your DNA’ taunt
- Supporters of Italian rivals throw bottles at one another ahead of preseason game
- Game finishes 1-1 in normal time as De Ligt own goal cancelled out by Cristiano Ronaldo before Juve win on penalties
Chinese fans of Italian football clubs Juventus and Inter Milan clashed ahead of their teams meeting for a preseason friendly match in Nanjing on Wednesday.
The rival groups threw bottles at each other outside the Nanjing Olympic Sports Centre Stadium before the International Champions Cup game.
This came after Inter Milan fans taunted Juventus supporters with a banner, according to a tweet from Chinese sports media outlet Titan Plus.
The banner claimed Juventus had theft in their DNA.
The Italian champions had their 2005 league title stripped for their involvement in the “Calciopoli” match-fixing scandal.
They were also relegated to Serie B, the second division, for the 2006-07 season. They were promoted back to the top flight at the end of that season.
