The Chinese table tennis juggernaut is set to continue to smash past its rivals for years to come and that China will always have a winning edge.

That is the opinion of former three-time Olympic champion Ma Lin, who says China's domination of the game will extend from the World Championships to the Olympic Games and although other nations have made progress, it would not be enough to knock China off their perch.

Speaking during an exchange programme with Creative Primary School, the former Chinese star said China occupy the top four spots in the world rankings for a reason.

Some countries like Germany, Japan and South Korea are quite strong, but in overall quality, they still lag far behind us

The Chinese men's team won the World Championship title nine times out of 10 since 1995 and at the last two Olympic Games, China made a clean sweep of both the singles and team gold medals in Beijing and London.

"Some countries like Germany, Japan and South Korea are quite strong, but in overall quality, they still lag far behind us," said Ma.

"These countries may have one or two good players, but we have many. Maybe they can pull off some surprises in the singles competitions as it is decided on a single-match basis, but in the team event, they have little chance because we can still come back and win it despite losing one or two matches.
