Boxing fans were as stunned as Tyron Woodley after YouTuber Jake Paul delivered a sledgehammer of a knockout punch in the sixth round of their bout at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.

The victory extended Paul’s perfect record after sending Woodley face-first into the canvas with a vicious knockout blow that had the boxing world in awe.

In a largely uneventful bout, the first five rounds saw little significant action or quality with fans booing the lacklustre display, until Paul delivered a right hand blow that knocked Woodley out cold.

Paul, 24, beat former UFC champion Woodley for the second time in four months, after his split-decision victory in August, and improved his professional boxing record to 5-0.

Showtime Boxing tweeted “WHAT A SHOT”, while ESPN Ringside commented: “It’s time to add Jake Paul to the list of KO of the Year nominees.” Paul’s blow certainly belongs up there among the year’s KOs, alongside that of Tyson Fury in his heavyweight victory over Deontay Wilder earlier this year.

The 39-year-old Woodley replaced Paul’s scheduled opponent Tommy Fury, half-brother of Tyson, after the Briton dropped out earlier this month with a broken rib and chest infection.
