A full house witnessed the hosts downing two-time defending champions Guangxi Rhinos 102-91 in Wan Chai, and about 2,000 spectators were treated to some dazzling performances by popular Taiwanese cheerleaders the Rakuten Girls throughout the night.

While the atmosphere in the arena matched his pre-game expectations, Chin, who also owns Taiwanese P. League+ team Kaohsiung 17LIVE Steelers, remained adamant there is always room for improvement.

“As I said previously, this is a ‘zero to one step’ for us,” he said. “Hopefully, we will improve game by game as the season goes on.

“Perhaps we can do better with the lighting, I think we could add some laser beam elements before tip-off and also have a projection of the team’s logo onto the floor.”

With fans willing to fork out HK$3,000 for a pair of the most expensive tickets, just to watch the Rakuten Girls from the front row, Chin revealed there was more to come.
