Harvard has announced that alumnus Jeremy Lin will speak at their Class Day later this month, with some of the basketball player’s fans wondering what this means for his NBA comeback dreams this season.
The Ivy League college said that Lin would be returning on May 26 to speak to the graduating class after being selected to speak by the Class of 2021.
“A globally known, pioneering athlete whose explosive rise to fame and inspirational achievement on the basketball court brought greater visibility to Asian Americans in professional sports, Jeremy Lin ’10 is also a philanthropist and activist,” wrote The Harvard Gazette.
“He has stepped up to help those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, and become a dynamic advocate in the fight for inclusion and against anti-Asian racism.”
Lin, 32, has been doing this while also attempting to return to the NBA this season, including starring for the Golden State-affiliated Santa Cruz Warriors in the G League.
The nine-year NBA veteran, who played for the Beijing Ducks in the Chinese Basketball Association last season, will be eligible for the play-offs if he signs for a team before the end of the regular season on May 16.
