The tournament will be played at Mega Ice during the Chinese New Year holiday, February 18, 19 and 21. The world championship games will be the highest profile ice hockey tournament to ever be held in Hong Kong. Participating teams along with Hong Kong include Turkey, South Africa, and Bulgaria. Hong Kong Team Manager Kevin Leung, and players Amy Chow and Lam Ho Yi list out the 5 best things of the tournament.

First ever World Championship in Hong Kong

After 26 years out of international competition, Hong Kong returned to the international ice hockey stage in 2014 to participate in the IIHF World Championships for the Men’s, Women’s and U18 categories. Kevin states that for Hong Kong to win the bid to host the Women's World Championship games after returning to IIHF competitions just one year ago is an indication of how much ice hockey has grown in Hong Kong. Having this tournament played in Hong Kong is a great opportunity to boost interest and promote the sport.
