Scraping the bottom of the barrel

Alex Loin Toronto

Shoppers at Fortress have been left scratching their heads and grimacing in baffled distaste at the electrical goods store's choice of Christmas shopping bag. The plastic bag, with its cheery wishes for 'A Warm and Merry Christmas', features a little white creature in a Santa hat, an angry dog and a snowman. But it's the antics of the snow-white, naked character called Mr P, an invention of Thai company Propaganda, that has buyers doing a double take and going 'Eww'.

One reader who received the bag with a Fortress purchase said she was horrified when she saw Mr P 'crouched over in a semi-squatting position shooting snow or water droplets or something out of his backside'. 'I think this is a disgusting way to spread any kind of Christmas cheer ... this is a very crude way to enter upon a season that is sacred to much of the world.'
