First Shanghai Investments has joined brokerages that have moved their trading on-line.

 First eFinance, the company's on-line finance arm, has launched myStockHK.com, a bilingual securities-trading Web site targeting ethnic Chinese.

 The site offers on-line stock-trading services, real-time information on stock-price changes, financial news, an interactive forum and commentaries on Hong Kong stocks.

 Users can access the information free of charge and they need to pay only a 0.25 per cent commission or a minimum charge of HK$79 for securities trading.

 Company officials said First eFinance planned to extend its on-line trading services to cover stocks traded in the United States, Taiwan, Singapore, South Korea and other East Asian countries.

 He said First eFinance had formed an alliance with a US-based stock brokerage to do on-line trading in stocks on the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq on its Web site in June.

 Shenyin Wanguo (HK), the locally listed arm of a mainland brokerage giant, started providing on-line stock trading in Hong Kong last month.

 The moves are believed to enhance the presence of stockbrokers with mainland background in the local stock-broking scene.

 Executive director Ted Chan Ying-tat said First eFinance would consider forming alliances with other local brokerages in order to share on-line operation costs and expand market share.

 First Shanghai Group has invested about HK$10 million in the Web site and plans to invest HK$20 million to enable access through mobile phones.
